Thonburi

1. Wat Rakhang 

วัดระฆังโฆสิตาราม

OPEN 8:00 - 17:00

 A temple built on the land where King Rama I lived before he took the throne.  The name of the temple came from the fact that a huge golden bell was found inside the temple during the period of King Rama I.  Many bells are suspended in the precincts.  A river ferry is available between Wat Rakhang Pier and Tha Chang Pier.

2. Wat Arun 

วัดอรุณ

OPEN 8:00 - 18:00

 A first-class royal Buddhist temple with a large pagoda towering along the Chao Phraya River.  

5 stupas
 The central pagoda is 75m, and the pedestal circumference is 234m. There are four stupas in the surrounding area.  The surface of the pagoda is decorated with crushed pieces of pottery.  The innumerable stone statues are decorated with the Indra god and its vehicle, the three-headed Erawan elephant, the Garuda, the devil, and the monkey.  What appears in Ramakien.

Two enshrinement halls
 One is the main hall of the Wat Makok era.  There are 29 Buddha statues enshrined in the hall.  The other building is the chapel.  A bronze pagoda and 80 Buddha statues are enshrined here.

Main hall
 A small hall protected by two demon statues 2m high.  There is a corridor lined with 120 Buddhist statues, and the remains of Rama II are housed inside the main pedestal.

3 Wat Kanlayanamit 

วัดกัลยาณมิตรวรมหาวิหาร

OPEN 7:00 - 17:00

 A second-class royal temple in the old Chinese town along the Chao Phraya River.  Seems to benefit good friends and travel safety.  The seated Buddha is 15.45m high and 11.75m wide, which is the largest in Bangkok.  It is especially lively in Chinese New Year.

4. Wat Prayurawongsawas 

วัดประยุรวงศาวาสวรวิหาร

OPEN 24 H

 A temple built by Rama III.  The Buddha statue enshrined in the main hall is from the Sukhothai period and was moved to this temple in 1831.  Phra Borommahathat Maha Chedi is a pure white pagoda that can be seen from the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya River.

5. Wat Phichayatayagaram 

วัดพิชยญาติการาม

OPEN 6:30 - 17:00

 The huge stupa creates a luxurious atmosphere with the contrast of white and gold.  The central stupa is about 66 meters. The pagoda on both sides is about 40 meters.  Inside the pagoda are four golden Buddha statues facing all directions.

6. Wat Pak Nam 

วัดปากน้ำภาษีเจริญ

OPEN 8:00 - 18:00

 A historic royal temple founded during the Ayutthaya period from 1488 to 1629. The ceiling painting on the top floor (5th floor) of the white Great Pagoda (approximately 80m high), which was built in 2012, is a must-see. In the center of the room is an emerald green glass stupa for enshrining the Buddha's relics. The Golden Big Buddha, built in 2021, is 69m tall.
